Data breach at Upstox, KYC and contact details compromised

Upstox, India’s second largest broking firm in terms of number of active clients,said its databases including contact details and KYC may have been breached.

In a statement, Upstox co-founder and CEO Ravi Kumar said funds and securities of customers are protected and remain safe. Upstox, backed by investors like Tiger Global and Ratan Tata, has over three million users.

The development follows reports of data breaches at large organisations like Facebook, LinkedIn, and MobiKwik.
