Daniel Ricciardo won his first Grand Prix since Monaco 2018 as he clinched the Italy Grand Prix on Sunday in a sensational race that saw Formula One championship leaders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton crash out.
The Australian started second in the race but overtook Verstappen in the first corner itself and maintained his lead throughout the race. Lando Norris came second in McLaren’s first win since Brazilian GP in 2012. Valtteri Bottas claimed the third spot despite starting last on the grid, thanks to the five-second penalty for Redbull’s Perez.
Verstappen still holds a mere five-point lead over Hamilton on the drivers’ championship standing. The next race will be held in Sochi on September 26.
