Cyclone Nisarga makes landfall, 3-hr ordeal likely

Cyclone Nisarga has hit Maharashtra. The severe cyclonic storm made a landfall 95 km from Mumbai near Alibaug. The weather department said that the center of Cyclone Nisarga is very close to Maharashtra coast. Landfall process will be completed during next 3 hours. Trees have been uprooted at places in Raigad district due to gusty winds. The cyclone has brought in a wind speed of up to 120 kmph and heavy rain in parts. At least 40,000 people have been evacuated from low lying areas. High tide is expected in Mumbai as the cyclonic activity intensifies.
