Covid-19 pandemic may last until 2021-end: Fauci

Disagreeing with US President Donald Trump's Covid-19 assessment, Dr Anthony Fauci, the US government's top infectious disease expert cautioned about the nation's 'disturbing' Covid statistics.

The US can expect returning to pre-covid normalcy by the end of 2021, said Fauci. He added that the country was starting the flu season with a high baseline of around 40,000 new cases daily with deaths averaging around 1000 daily. 

Earlier, Trump in his interview with journalist Bob Woodward said that he believed that the United States was 'rounding the corner' on the crisis.

US which is the worst-hit nation by the pandemic has 64,83,064 confirmed cases and 1,93,676 deaths.
