Covid-19: Mumbai records highest single-day spike of 5,185 cases

In a grim first, Mumbai on Thursday reported 5,185 new Covid-19 cases. According to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation there were 2,088 recoveries in this period. The maximum city on Thursday reported six deaths taking the toll to 11,606. The growth rate of Covid-19 in Mumbai was reported to be 0.79 per cent with an overall recovery rate of 90 per cent.


With the steady spike in Covid cases, alarm bells now ringing in Mumbai. The city has banned celebration of Holi - which falls on March 28 and 29 - in public or private spaces. Those found violating the order will be charged under the Epidemic Diseases Act and Disaster Management Act.
