Lufthansa has said that it would have to slash 22,000 full-time jobs as the recovery in demand for travel following the coronavirus pandemic will be muted. The German airline said that it will operate around 100 fewer aircraft after the crisis and that would lead to a total of 22,000 fewer full-time positions in the Lufthansa Group, half of them in Germany. The airline's trade union has offered to take a 45% pay cut in return for job security. International carrier Emirates recently fired 600 pilots due to the pandemic.
