Congress on #TripleTalaqBill: 'We have no right to play messiah'

Arguing for the Congress, MP from Assam, Sushmita Dev said the definition of 'subsistence allowances' is not defined in the Triple Talaq Bill. She said the bill was not about empowering Muslim women but only penalising Muslim men. "In the name of power (empowerment), you are giving the Muslim women nothing but a criminal case. This bill is not about empowering Muslim women, it’s about penalising Muslim men. The bill must be sent to the appropriate committee, we have no right to play messiah", said Sushmita Dev.
