Cold wave: rain, hailstorm for Delhi-NCR in the new year

Biting cold wave conditions continued in Delhi with the lowest temperature on Sunday at 3.6°C in Safdarjung at 6 am. The mercury even plunged to below 2°C in some areas, with the Lodhi Road Observatory recording a low of 1.7°C. According to the Met dept, hailstorms are expected on January 2, 2020 over Delhi-NCR, and light rain is expected over Delhi-NCR during the nights of January 1 to January 3. Air, train and road traffic were also hit by cold wave, with as many as 24 trains to and from Delhi running late and several flights diverted from Delhi airport. Cold wave continued in Rajasthan as well, with Jaipur's minimum temperature settling at 1.4°C, the lowest in more than five decades. Mount Abu, the state's only hill station recorded a temperature of -3°C on Sunday morning.
