Violent clashes were seen in Amritsar on Saturday between the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) task force and the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee over 328 missing 'saroops' of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
The Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, which has been protesting for over 40 days, clashed with SGPC members injuring 6 people, who were rushed to the nearest hospital. SGPC alleged unarmed people were attacked with swords, but the Satkar Committee claims they had been protesting peacefully when force was used on them.
Unrest between the two organisations started in May this year when a retiring employee of SGPC alleged 267 "saroops" of the Guru Granth Sahib had been dispatched without these being entered into official records.
