China halts work by team on gene-edited babies

After outrage from the scientific community, the Chinese govt has ordered a medical team that claimed to have helped make the world's first genetically-edited babies, to stop their work. China said it strongly opposed the "shocking and unacceptable" efforts that reportedly produced twin girls earlier this month. Ordering a probe, the Chinese govt has called the medical research team's actions illegal.
