Last season's runners up Manchester City started their Champions League campaign with a bang, as they beat RB Leipzig 6-3 on Wednesday.

City's £40m signing Nathan Ake scored his first Champions League goal since joining The Citizens from Bournemouth in August 2020 to start the proceedings. The scoreline read 3-1 in favour of City by half time. Former Paris St-Germain player Nkunku then netted his 2nd soon after before Jack Grealish scored on his Champions League debut to double City's lead once again. But Nkunku once again gave Leipzig hope and completed a hat-trick in the 71st minute. He couldn't inspire his side to stage an upset though as Joao Cancelo and Gabriel Jesus sealed the game with a goal each.

The Citizens now have a tough game ahead as they take on PSG on September 28.
