Champions League: Karim Benzema's brace for Real Madrid, Manchester City & Liverpool's thumping win

Karim Benzema struck twice to take Real Madrid to a convincing victory against Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stage match of the Champions League on Wednesday. The French footballer opened the account for Carlo Ancelloti's men in the 14th minute which Fernando equalised before halftime. Benzema doubled the score in the 61st minute as the Whites secured the top spot in the group D table. 

Playing at home, RB Leipzig held back Paris Saint Germain to a frustrating 2-2 draw on Wednesday in the Group A match of the Champions League. Leipzig's Christopher Knunku scored an early goal in the 8th min but Georginio Wijnaldum not only levelled it in the 21st minute but also took his side a goal ahead in the 39th minute. However, a dramatic late penalty by Dominik Szoboszloi spoiled PSG's day who are at the 2nd spot in the group table.

In another Group A match, Manchester City registered a thumping 4-1 win against Club Brugge on Wednesday. Phil Foden struck first in the 15th minute, but John Stones' own goal equalised for Brugge. However, Pep Guardiola's men showered goals as Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus scored in the second half. With 3 wins, Man City at 1st spot in Group table.
 
Meanwhile, with 2 group games remaining, Liverpool entered the Champions League knockout stage after a 2-0 win against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Diego Simeone's men were restricted as Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane scored in the 13th and 21st minute respectively. Atletico Madrid have won just 1 game out of 4 group games.
