Chaitanya Tamhane's 'The Disciple' wins big at Venice Film Festival

National award-winning director Chaitanya Tamhane's 'The Disciple' which represented India at the 2020 Venice Film Festival has won the prestigious FIPRESCI award. 

'The Disciple' also won the Best Screenplay award, while losing the Golden Lion to director Chloé Zhao's 'Nomadland'.

Thanking the jury, Tamhane released a statement saying they are all quite thrilled and excited with this fantastic start to the journey of 'The Disciple'.

The film looks at the world of classical musicians on the fringes of success.
