It took South Africa less than 3 days to beat Pakistan in the 1st Test in Centurion and take a 1-0 lead in the 3 match Test series. Chasing 149 to win, Dean Elgar and Hashim Amla stood tall with a half century each in tough batting conditions to guide the Proteas home. Value of their 119 run stand was shown when the Proteas had a middle order collapse but still managed to cross the line with 6 wickets to spare.
