In a revolutionising move, Bajaj Auto is set to launch the world's first ever CNG powered motorcycle on July 5. The Motorcycle is expected to make its debut in the presence of Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari.

CNG motorcycle launch

The motorcycle had been undergoing various tests over the past few months. The test mules closely resemble standard commuter motorcycles, featuring practical elements such as halogen turn indicators, telescopic forks and a monoshock unit for suspension. As per Times of India, the bike also features multi-spoke alloy wheels, a long single-piece seat, and a combination of disc and drum brakes. This indicates that the motorcycle maker is targeting the entry level budget segment

Meanwhile, Bajaj is yet to reveal if the existing petrol engine will be used or develop a completely new powertrain for CNG use.  The manufacturer is also looking to employ a 110-125 cc engine that will run on both petrol and CNG. As per Times of India, the motorcycle could be named Glider, Marathon, Trekker or Freedom.

A CNG-powered motorcycle can be a cost-effective, eco-friendly option, especially for fleet operators.
