The average annual income for engineering freshers climbed by 15% from FY21 to FY22: Report

A fresh engineering graduate in India was earning an average beginning salary of ₹4.57 lakh last year, which is almost 15% more than the academic year 2020–21, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) report provided by the Ministry of Education

According to a Hindu Businessline analysis, the average annual compensation of fresh engineering graduates has climbed by 43% over the past five years. In the academic year 2017–18, the average yearly salary of an engineering graduate after graduating from college was roughly ₹3.19 lakh.

However, in 2022, an engineering graduate from one of the top 100 engineering colleges took home an annual salary of ₹11.06 lakh, which represents a gain of approximately 60% over the previous five years. 

IIT Guwahati is ranked first out of these, with an annual starting engineer salary of ₹22.5 lakh. According to The Hindu Businessline, an engineering fresher at an IIT made an average salary of ₹17 lakh per year at IIT Madras, ₹20.5 lakh at IIT Delhi, ₹18.8 lakh at IIT Bombay, and ₹20 lakh at IIT Hyderabad.
