Talks between Tata Consumer and Bisleri have ceased. In a regulatory filing, Tata Consumer clarified that deal talks for a potential acquistion of Bisleri have ceased.

“In this regard, the Company wishes to update that it has now ceased negotiations with Bisleri about a potential transaction and to confirm that the company has not entered into any definitive agreement or binding commitment on this matter,” the company informed the stock exchanges.

According to a Bloomberg report, the deal negotiations had stalled over valuation concerns.

Tata Consumer, which owns the “Himalayan” mineral water brand, said it was interested in acquiring a stake in Bisleri International as a part of its expansion in September 2022.

Tata Consumer was set to acquire India’s largest packaged drinking water company, Bisleri, for an estimated Rs 6,000-7,000 crore.

Bisleri, with a market share of 32%, is the leader in the Rs 20,000 crore packaged drinking water segment. A potential deal with Bisleri would have catapulted the Tata Group to become the packaged water giant.
