Savitri Jindal overtakes Ambani and Adani as India's wealth growth leader

Savitri Jindal, India's wealthiest woman, has outpaced industry giants like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani with the most substantial increase in net worth among Indians over the past calendar year, as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Jindal's wealth soared by USD 9.6 billion during this period, positioning her as the fifth richest individual in India, with a total net worth of USD 25 billion, just ahead of Azim Premji of Wipro, valued at USD 24 billion.

Who is Savitri Jindal?

Savitri Jindal serves as the chairperson of the OP Jindal Group, a formidable presence in the steel industry established by her late husband, Om Prakash Jindal. The conglomerate comprises significant entities like JSW Steel, Jindal Steel & Power, JSW Energy, Jindal Holdings, JSW Saw, and Jindal Stainless.

Performance of Other Key Figures in India Inc

The data indicates notable rises in the fortunes of industry leaders. Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman emeritus of HCL Technologies, witnessed a wealth surge of USD 8 billion in the past calendar year. DLF's KP Singh augmented his wealth by USD 7 billion.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of Aditya Birla Group, and Shapoor Mistry of Shapoorji Pallonji Group experienced an increase of USD 6.5 billion each in their net worth.

Several other prominent industrialists, including Sunil Mittal, MP Lodha, Ravi Jaipuria, and Dilip Shanghvi, also saw substantial gains in their wealth.

Gautam Adani was the lone business magnate among the major names in India Inc. who faced a decline in wealth, with his net worth dropping by USD 35.4 billion to USD 85.1 billion, although he retains the position of the second-richest Indian. Mukesh Ambani continues to lead as the wealthiest Indian with a net worth of USD 99.2 billion.
