Kiran Mazumdar Shaw took to Twitter to raise her voice against the growing religious divide in the state that hosts India's tech network. Reacting to a news report that Hindutva groups were keeping out Muslim traders from temple festivals in Karnataka Shaw addressing Karanataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said "Karnataka has always forged inclusive economic development and we must not allow such communal exclusion"

The founder of Biocon is the first significant corporate voice that has raised concern over the religious division being reported across the state. She warned that the country’s “global leadership” in tech and biotech was at stake. Remaining hopeful Shaw subsequently also tweeted “Our CM is a very progressive leader. I am sure he will resolve this issue soon.”
