As the deadline to file the income tax returns looms, the topic is trending on social media with last minute rushes to file and memes flooding microblogging sites. The income tax department reported that 5 crore returns for the assessment year 2021-22 have been filed till December 29, out of which 18.89 lakh were filed on Tuesday.

The Govt has been putting reminders and alerts via social media platforms to ensure the filings are done as the date has been extended three times this year already.
