Tech giant Microsoft has announced that the company will not give salary raise to its full-time employees this year, but will continue with the bonuses, stock awards and promotions. The company said that the decision was taken to tackle the tough economic conditions.

This comes at a time, when Microsoft continues to spend billions of dollars in the form of investment in ChatGPT maker OpenAI. The company has been focusing on Artificial Intelligence and has been using generative AI in its office products and search engine Bing.

BQ Prime has reported that Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella had sent out an email to employees notifying about the pause in hike. “While we will have salary increases for certain hourly or equivalent roles, we will not have salary increases for full-time employees this year,” Nadella's e-mail read.

Earlier this year in January, Microsoft in a mass layoff let go 10,000 employees.
