Muhurat Trading: Samvat 2080 welcomed on a high note; all sectors end in green

Samvat 2080: Dalal Street welcomed Samvat 2080 on a high note as investors poured money into stocks during the one hour special trading session on Diwali. Both BSE and NSE hosted the Muhurat Trading during which investors picked up value stocks to mark the beginning of new Hindu year- Samvat 2080.

Sensex and Nifty Rally

The BSE Sensex closed at 65,259.45 which was 355 points, or 0.55% higher. Similarly Nifty50 gained 100.20 points, or 0.52%, to end the Muhurat trading session at 19,525.55.

The broader markets also did well, as the BSE midcap index rose 227.43 points or 0.70%, while the BSE smallcap index gained about 452.11 points or 1.18%. Likewise, the broader Nifty of the National Stock Exchange advanced 109.80 points or 0.57% to 19,535.15 led by gains in IT, infra and energy shares.

All the sectoral indices were trading in green which was led by industrials, IT, metal and services indices. The lead gainers include, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, ITC, TCS, Kotak Bank, Asian Paints and Titan.

Muhurat Trading is a one-hour, symbolic trading session conducted by Indian stock exchanges on Diwali, a Hindu festival considered auspicious for new beginnings, including investments.
