Markets at close: Sensex slides, Rupee record low again

The update from stock market remains a strained one, with the benchmark indices tracking the global market to head lower. Nifty ended below 16,100, Sensex fell 508 points. Metal, Tech and auto lead the drag.

On the forex front the rupee rout continued as the currency hit a record low vs the dollar as FII selling continues. The commodity complex suffered a similar fate. With Crude prices tumbling, Brent oil slumped to $103/bbl, gold in the international market dropped to a 9-month low
