Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 spurs mega investments, set to generate lakhs of jobs

The 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2024, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 10, witnessed the signing of more than 200 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 7.17 lakh crore in various sectors, with a potential to generate over 21 lakh direct and indirect jobs in the state, reported CMO Gujarat. 

The summit was attended by several global leaders, business tycoons, and innovators. Among the prominent investors who announced their mega plans for Gujarat were Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, and Tata Group chairman N Chandrasekaran.

Ambani: India will become $35 trillion economy by 2047

Mukesh Ambani, who hails from Gujarat, praised the state’s leadership and entrepreneurial spirit, and said that India will become a $35 trillion economy by 2047, with Gujarat contributing significantly to it.

“Reliance has invested over ₹12 lakh crore in creating world-class assets and capacities across India in the last 10 years. Of this, more than one-third has been invested in Gujarat alone,” Ambani said.

He also said that Reliance will set up the world’s largest and most advanced green energy complex in Jamnagar, The facility will be commissioned in the second half of the year.

Adani: Green energy park will be visible from space

Gautam Adani, another Gujarat-born industrialist, announced a massive investment of over Rs 2 lakh crore in the state, with a primary focus on establishing a green energy park that will be visible even from outer space.

He said that the park, which will be spread over 25 Square Kilometers, will produce 30 GW of renewable energy and employ over 1 lakh people.

Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran said, "The impact of economic development has also resulted in tremendous social development. Gujarat clearly has established itself as the gateway to the future. For the Tata Group, Gujarat is a very special place...Recently, we have made significant commitments to expand our presence in the state of Gujarat. Sanand is becoming home for all our electric vehicles' technology. We expanded the footprint in Sanand with additional capacity so that we can meet the growing demands of electric vehicles. We are about to launch the building of a huge giga factory for 20 GWs of lithium-ion batteries in Sanand, the project should start construction in the next couple of months."

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, will conclude on January 12, the event is set to become a platform for showcasing Gujarat’s potential and attracting global investments, which will boost the state’s economic growth and employment opportunities.
