As Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers and senior BJP leaders congratulated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting 'people's budget', opposition leaders criticised the govt for a 'rich people' budget.

Former finance minister P Chidambaram said it was govt's 'bull-headed obduracy' to say that it was working towards welfare of the poor.

Former union minister Sachin Pilot said that govt had not mentioned the poor, unemployed or youth in the budget.
