Budget 2024: On health sector Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be extended to all Anganwadi and Ayushman workers.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme which was launched in September 2018, is part of the National Health Policy 2017 aims to guarantee Universal Health Coverage. The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana or PM-JAY scheme under Ayushman Bharat is recognised as the largest health assurance scheme in the world.
Sitharaman also mentioned that various schemes on maternal, childcare will be brought under one comprehensive framework for ease of implementation
