Budget 2023: mobile phones to get cheaper? Watch FM Nirmala's announcement on customs duty

Among items that get cheaper are mobile phones, and lithium batteries, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the Budget 2023 speech.

With a reduction in import duty, mobile phones will be available at cheaper rates, FM said. 

Her statement read, "The Central government proposed to reduce customs duty on import of certain inputs for mobile phone manufacturing.”

While customs duty on other electronic items such as electric chimneys in kitchens has been increased from 7.5% to 15%.
