After alarming reports on likely data breach affecting 7.5 million customers emerged, the homegrown audio and wearable brand boAT has launched an investigation. A company spokesperson while acknowledging the seriousness of the situation assured its customers that safeguarding their data remains its utmost priority, affirming its commitment to addressing the issue promptly.

A spokesperson for the company told IANS, "boAt is aware of recent claims regarding a potential data leak involving customer information."

The investigation was launched immediately after the emergence of these reports, with boAt emphasising its dedication to ensuring the security and privacy of its customers' information.

As per Forbes, personal data of more than 7.5 million customers of boAt including personally identifiable details such as names, addresses, contact numbers, email IDs, and customer IDs, among others have been leaked in the dark web.

boAt emerged as a market leader as India witnessed a remarkable surge in the demand for true wearable stereo (TWS) devices, with a significant 34% year-on-year increase in shipments last year. boAT witnessed a 39% year-on-year growth.
