As per Reuters the task force is aiming to develop AI applications in-house while also seeking partnerships with start-ups. Currently 11 positions are open in Disney that requires individuals who are well-versed in artificial intelligence or machine learning. These roles cover Walt Disney Studios, the engineering division to the theme parks, Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney-branded television and the advertising team.

Disney also believes that enforcing AI would help the company in mitigating the escalating costs associated with film and television production, which can skyrocket to $300 million for major releases such as "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" or "The Little Mermaid." In the theme park arena, Disney thinks that AI can help in better the customer support and create innovative interactions.
