In order to reduce waste, fast food company Burger King is planning to trial reusable containers from next year. The initiative is a partnership with Loop, TerraCycle's zero-waste delivery platform.
Customers can choose to take reusable packets for sandwiches, coffee and soft drinks, after which they can be returned to Burger King to be cleaned and reused.
However, customers will be charged a small deposit when purchasing the item. Once the packet is returned, customers will be refunded.
The eco-friendly packaging will be introduced in select restaurants in Portland, Tokyo and New York.
