Bumble CEO and co-founder Whitney Wolfe Herd has become the youngest woman billionaire after the online dating company went public in the United States.
Shares of Bumble, the dating app soared 67% in its trading debut to $72 in New York, valuing Herd’s stake at $1.5 billion.
After leaving an executive role at Tinder, Whitney Herd set up Bumble in 2014 in hopes of creating a site where women have the power to make the first move when matched with a date.
In a blog post, Herd wrote, the importance of a woman making the first move is not exclusive to the world of dating, romance, or love; but it is a powerful shift, giving women confidence and control.
