Brazil became the first South American nation to qualify for Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup after they defeated Columbia 1-0 in the World Cup qualifier on Thursday in Sao Paolo. Lucas Paqueta's 72nd min goal was enough for Brazil to secure the win in a feisty match. The nation has now qualified into the World Cup for the 11th consecutive time.

The 5-time World Cup champions topped the South American group with 11 wins and 34 points. Following them are Argentina and Ecuador. Columbia with only 3 wins is standing at the 5th position in the points table.
