Billionaire Branson is betting on beating billionaire Bezos into space as Virgin Galactic announced that the space tourism company will attempt to launch its next test spaceflight on July 11, carrying founder Sir Richard Branson. Bezos who steps down as CEO of Amazon on July 5 will zip out to space on his Blue Origin flight only on July 20.
This will be Virgin Galactic’s fourth test spaceflight to date and its first mission with a crew of four on board, as the company launched its most recent spaceflight, on May 22, with just two pilots.
Bezos will be flying into space with his brother and 82 year female aerospace pioneer Wally Funk along with the winner of the auction who paid $28 million for a seat to space.
