BMW considers converting hybrids to electric only in polluted cities

German automaker BMW is considering converting its hybrid cars to run on only electricity when they enter a heavily-polluted area of a city. The company believes since BMW's vehicles are connected and interact with each other, they can be programmed to switch to an electric-only mode when driving through areas that require minimum emissions.
