The Maharashtra unit of the BJP attacked the state's Maha Vikas Aghadi govt after the Supreme Court stayed the implementation of a 2018 law granting quota to Marathas in education and jobs. State BJP president Chandrakant Patil called it a black day for the community and accused the Maharashtra govt of not being serious about defending the law in court. He said the govt failed to ensure that the law held its ground despite repeated requests to take the matter seriously and prepare itself well legally. Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in a statement said that all the hardwork by the previous govt has been undone.
