Denied ticket, four sitting lawmakers of the Trinamool Congress quit the Mamata Banerjee-led party and joined BJP on Monday. The MLAs Rabindranath Bhattachrya from Singur, Sonali Guha from Satgachia, Dipendu Biswas from North Basirhat and Jatu Lahiri from Shibpur joined the saffron party in the presence of Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh. Guha and Lahiri said they tried to contact the top TMC leaders with their concerns but felt the party has no need of them anymore. Sarala Murmu from Habibpur and Bengali film actor Tanushree Chakraborty also joined BJP.
