The Delhi High Court on Thursday said the existing medical infrastructure in the national capital was "exposed" to be in a "shambles" during the pandemic and directed the Delhi government to provide facility for medical treatment as required those who are suffering from Covid-19.
A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli further said that the Delhi government was behaving like an ostrich with its head in the sand if it was disputing the condition of the medical infrastructure in the national capital.
Senior advocate Rahul Mehra, appearing for the Delhi government, had aruged that the court may not say the medical infrastructure was in shambles.
HC said the obligation of the State to provide sufficient infrastructure to save lives of people can't be understated and even the most economically advanced nation have found their infrastructure to be lacking to deal with a massive surge of cases.
