The campaign for the West Bengal assembly elections is now a phenomenon that continues to give. In a rather peculiar gesture, a former Trinamool Congress leader was seen doing squats on stage moments after joining the BJP in Purbo Medinipur district on Thursday.

Sushanta Pal, known to be a loyalist of TMC turncoat Suvendu Adhikari, described the act as an attempt to “atone past sins” during his tenure with the Mamata Banerjee-led ruling party.

As Sushanta Pal did squats on stage, some BJP supporters present at the rally chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans. Most others however looked at the spectacle in utter bewilderment.
