Assam's chief minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday that the state's new cabinet will take oath at 12 noon on Monday.
Sarma, who is the convenor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led North East Democratic Alliance, was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party, paving way for him to become Assam's next chief minister replacing Sarbananda Sonowal.
Sonowal on Sunday tendered his resignation to Governor Jagdish Chandra Mukhi at the Raj Bhavan. Reports said that he is likely to be accommodated in the Union cabinet.
