Asia might soon witness its first-ever gay marriage. Hundreds of same-sex couples have made reservations to register their marriages with government agencies on May 24, which is the deadline set by Taiwan's top court to allow same-sex marriages. In a landmark 2017 ruling, judges had said that denying gay couples the right to marry violated the island's constitution. But in a move that promises a new milestone for Asia, the court gave lawmakers two years to make marriage equality happen or it will be enacted automatically if they failed.
