The eagerly-awaited Ashes series between Australia and England will go ahead, with the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground permitted to host up to 100,000 fans in the stands. The Rod Laver arena in Melbourne which hosts the Australian Open will also allow 100% occupancy during the tennis tournament.

Interestingly, Australia's Test against India at the MCG earlier this year was capped at 30,000 fans per day because of the pandemic.
