England have a herculean task on their hands after conceding a 238 runs lead in the first innings of second Ashes Test at Adelaide. Australia decided to bat again despite they having the chance to enforce the follow-on.

At stumps on Day 3, Australia were 45-1, leading by 282 runs with Marcus Harris and night watchman Michael Neser at the crease. David Warner got run out while taking a quick single.

Earlier, the visitors shed their first session advantage after going wicket-less as Dawid Malan and Joe Root showed grit and resilience against Aussies bowlers.

The stand between the duo was stretched to 138 before Cameroon Green scalped the wicket of Joe Root who scored 62. Malan followed him immediately and departed after scoring 80.

The English lower-order failed to provide any resistance after Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes's brief stay in the middle.

Pacer Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowler for Australia, taking 4 wickets while spinner Lyon scalped three wickets.
