Apart from the embarrassing 9 wicket loss, England suffered a further blow as Joe Root's team slow over-rate in Brisbane cost them 5 ICC WTC points. The team was also fined 100% of their match fees by the ICC on Saturday after the completion of Day 4.

As per the ICC WTC rules, a team loses one point for each over short and Joe Root's team fell 5 over short of the targets after adjusting for time allowances.

Australia's Travis Head who performed phenomenally for his team securing a 152 off 148 during the first innings has also been fined 15% of his match fee for use of an audible obscenity. Head, who used abusive words against Ben Stokes after his dismissal in the 77th over, accepted the sanction after admitting his doing.
