Pat Cummins' Test captaincy began with a bang as Australia dominated the first Test and humbled the visiting English Team to a 9 wicket loss on Day 4 of the Ashes opener at Brisbane.

Nathan Lyon tore down the Three Lions from the start of Day 4. Dawid Malan and Joe Root had raised hopes for the team on Day 3, but they became the first to face Lyon's wrath on the following day, who completed his 400 Test wickets for Australia. Root collected 89 and Malan 82. After their dismissal, the remaining squad too became Lyon's and Cameron Green's victims.

Australia bowled their guests out for 297 just before lunch break. Post the lunch, Australia easily chased down the 20 run target in 5.1 overs at the loss of Alex Carey's wicket to take lead in the 5 match Test series.

The Next Test between the 2 nations begins on 16th December at the Adelaide Oval.
