Amid a global chorus in support of the farmers led by pop icon Rihanna and teen climate activist Greta Thunberg's tweets, the Indian govt has hit back. The ministry of external affairs in a statement on Wednesday said that the farm laws were passed by Parliament after full debate and discussion and are in the welfare of farmers. Noting that some vested interests are trying to enforce their agenda on the farmers protest, which led to the violence on Republic Day. The govt has asked the celebs to ascertain facts before commenting on the matter. "The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebs and others, is neither accurate nor responsible," the MEA stated.
