Argentina vs Brazil game in South America's World Cup qualifiers was called off after an alleged quarantine rule break. According to local reports, 4 Argentina footballers were given mandatory covid quarantine after travelling from the Premier League but 3 of them started the game vs Brazil. Aston Villa players Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia, and Tottenham duo Giovanni Lo Celso and Cristian Romero, came to play for Argentina and started the game and as a result, there was a protest by the Brazilian authorities.

Argentina responded by walking off the field after just 7 mins of play and chose not to return. The match officials called off the game in response. Superstars Messi and Neymar along with officials were seen arguing before the game was stopped.
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni said he and his players were sad by the turn of events, and that both teams would have liked to play the game. Brazilian authorities called the decision by the officials strange as the game was called off and the final decision of the future of the tie will remain with FIFA.
