According to a Nikkei Asian Review report, Apple has asked a Chinese manufacturer to double the production of AirPods Pro wireless earphones to 2 million units a month. This is to meet a surging consumer demand for the latest earbuds, which is expected to double to 60 million shipments by the end of 2019, according to Bloomberg. The California-based company lobbied for tariff relief amid the ongoing US-China trade tensions, however, Chinese suppliers already account for 41 of Apple’s 200 top suppliers--more than their US counterparts.
