Cambridge Dictionary's 'Word of the Year' for 2020 comes as no surprise!

'Quarantine' has been chosen as its word of the year, stating that it was the third most searched word after 'hello' and 'dictionary'.

The editors chose 'quarantine' since it acquired a new meaning amid the lockdown and was searched for the most between Match 18-24, just when restrictions were coming in.

Other popular words ranked by Cambridge were 'lockdown' and 'pandemic'. New words, including 'Elbow bump' and 'HyFlex' were added to the dictionary.
