Android 11 is here and it brings several new features, but as a whole, the new software update is more about making it easier to manage the already available functionalities.
The biggest change is how Android 11 handles conversations by grouping notifications from messaging apps out into its own section in the drop-down notification shade.
Users can have their texting threads pop out into a little bubble that floats over other apps just like Chat Heads from Facebook Messenger.
The power menu now serves as a kind of digital wallet, with controls for powering your phone, Google Pay cards and smart home control.
Do Not Disturb lets users customise which apps or people are allowed to notify, while Media controls have been moved up into quick settings.
Screen recording is now possible without the need for a third-party app, while Screenshots now appear on the lower-left corner.
Google also made some privacy changes. There’s a new one-time permission option for location and permissions that now reset automatically for apps that aren’t being used for a while.
