Amrullah Saleh: Taliban not allowing food, fuel into resistance stronghold

Former Afghan vice-president Amrullah Saleh has said that Taliban forces are not allowing food & fuel supplies into Andarab valley near Panjshir, which is the last bastion of resistance against the extremist group.

Terming the humanitarian situation "dire", Saleh said that thousands of women & children have fled to mountains. He also alleged that Taliban soldiers were abduct children & elderly to use them as shields.

Taliban forces have taken back three districts in northern Afghanistan from the resistance group and are nearing the Panjshir Valley.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on Monday confirmed that Taliban forces had cleared the districts and were established in Badakhshan, Takhar and Andarab near the Panjshir valley.

Forces loyal to Ahmad Massoud, son of the late mujahideen commander Ahmad Shah Massoud, have established themselves in his Panjshir stronghold, and have refused to surrender to Taliban.

Saleh has also joined the resistance movement in north and has vowed to fight the Taliban.
